Original footage and potential extra income

Can videos you already filmed earn money?

If you have an original funny, surprising or memorable moment on your phone, you may have footage worth submitting for review. Learn the process, how revenue sharing works and what to expect before you upload.

How the opportunity works

  1. Find an original recording. Choose footage you personally filmed and own, or have the necessary permission to license commercially. A repost is not an original.
  2. Check the rights. Consider people, music, artwork, ownership and other permissions. You must be able to provide evidence where required.
  3. Submit securely. Create a contributor account, review the terms and submit a supported original video file.
  4. Wait for review. Content is checked for security, rights and suitability. A submission may be rejected or never selected for publication.
  5. Track eligible monetization. If accepted footage is actually used in monetized content, qualifying revenue may contribute to earnings under your accepted agreement.

Is this a passive-income side hustle?

One reason to license an original video is that you do not personally have to build and run a large audience for that particular clip. After submission and review, distribution and publishing can be handled by the channel. But creating or owning rights-cleared work takes effort, many submissions will earn nothing, and monthly income is not promised.

Which clips might fit?

Original funny moments, unusual incidents, animal behaviour, harmless fails, impressive skills and unexpected real-life moments are examples of footage that may be considered. We assess each submission individually, including safety, context, consent and licence rights.

How much can a video earn?

There is no guaranteed amount, payment frequency, minimum reach or acceptance. Earnings depend on the applicable programme terms, the clip being selected and published, qualifying platform monetization and verified revenue. Consult the current earnings information and contributor earnings amendment before making a decision.
